Main Dish ~ Smoky Turkey Chili

Smoky Turkey Chili was first posted as my choice for Recipe of the Week for my Weight Watchers @ Work group in January 2012.  Below are my notes from the time:

Here is a favorite crockpot recipe of mine from the Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook ~ so easy and delicious!  Perfect for these cold and rainy days (or any day for that matter!) 🙂

Smoky Turkey Chili

1 pound ground skinless turkey breast
1 large onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
4 garlic cloves, chopped
3 (15-1/2 oz) cans small white beans, rinsed and drained
1 (14-1/2 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 cup ketchup
1 (4-1/2 oz) can chopped mild green chiles
3 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. instant expresso powder ~ I use Medaglia D’Oro Instant Expresso Coffee, purchased from SaveMart
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. hickory liquid smoke
Chopped fresh parsley

Combine turkey, onion, bell pepper, and garlic in a 5- or 6- quart slow cooker. Stir in all remaining ingredients. Cover and cook until flavors are blended and chili is slightly thickened, 4-5 hours on high or 8-10 hours on low. Serve sprinkled with parsley.

*5 WW points per 1-1/4 cup*

Can top with sour cream and cheddar cheese (2 tbsp. fat-free sour cream and 2 tbsp. shredded fat-free cheddar cheese will increase the PointPlus value by 2)
